Traveling to Greenland in times of Corona

[Traveling to Greenland during the Corona Pandemic - 2]
Transit through Denmark
In order to get to the Kastrup / Copenhagen airport in Denmark, you of course have to transit through Denmark (if you don't use a plain). That was no problem until last year. But with the corona pandemic, Denmark introduced strict entry restrictions, which were relaxed on June 15, 2020. If you wanted to enter Denmark as a tourist, you had to prove that you had booked at least 6 nights. Of course, this ddid not apply to transit travelers. But you had to prove the reason for the transit, in our case the confirmation for a flight from Copenhagen (Kastrup) to Greenland. And then you are obliged to go straight to the airport without delay. Information about transit regulations can be obtained
here
.
Since the departure time from Kastrup to Kangerlussuaq (Greenland) is mostly at 9:00 a.m. and you should be there earlier, it is rarely possible to arrive there on the day of departure. So you surely will avoid spending many hours in the airport waiting room the night before departure.
Overnight in Copenhagen
The departure time to Greenland and the travel connections to Copenhagen make it almost inevitable to stay there for at least one night. If you are looking for a place to stay close to the airport and at a relatively affordable price, then I recommend
Danhostel (Youth Hostel) Copenhagen Amager (Vejlands Allé 200, 2300 København, Denmark, phone: +45 32 52 29 08)
. It is easy to reach from both the airport and the main train station. You take the Øresundbahn (S-Bahn) to Ørestad, change there to the metro and travel one station to Bella-Center. From there it is about a 10-minute walk to the youth hostel (Danhostel). The route between the youth hostel and the airport is shown on the following section of a map, which can be enlarged with one click.
